For many years you’ve been seeing HTTP listed in front of your favorite website address. You’ve also seen HTTPS showing in the browser’s address bar on occasion, especially on banking, shopping, and financial websites. The ‘S’ stands for Secure, and it’s becoming more and more common on websites in general.
Starting in July 2018, the most popular web browser in the world, Google Chrome, is going to start “calling out” the websites that are not listed as Secure. Yes, your standard website will still work just fine as HTTP. But Chrome will start to show users, “Not Secure” and the HTTP will be shown in red, while HTTPS will show as green with a green lock and a green “Secure” like:
Visitors to your site might get a little uncomfortable to see “Not Secure” so it’s something for you to consider.
For a website to be secure, it must be hosted first on a secure server. At Faith in Marketing, we only use secure servers, so our hosted clients are already covered in that department!
Secure websites do need their own Secure Server Certificate. If you want HTTPS showing, you will need to purchase a certificate, and if you need help, just let us know. We offer them as 1, 2, or 3-year-duration certificates.
- 1 year is $110
- 2 years is $195
- 3 years is $255
